    在英語翻譯中direct, directly這兩個副詞都有“直接地”的意思，但是在使用中，到底又有什么區別呢，今天宇譯翻譯公司小編就來為大家講解一下。
    

     
    

    direct和directly有時可以互相換用，有人認為兩者在意思上沒有區別，只是directly顯得更為正式，direct沒那么正式（Direct is used as an informal alternative to directly）:
    

    The train goes direct from Beijing to Qingdao.
    

    The train goes directly from Beijing to Qingdao.
    

    I saved 300 Yuan by ordering my clothes direct from the factory.
    

    I saved 300 Yuan by ordering my clothes directly from the factory.
    

     
    

    在實際運用中,兩者在意思上和用法上還是有一定的區別的。
    

    Direct意思是：
    

    1.“徑直(in a straight line)”,如We flew direct to Paris.我們直飛巴黎。
    

    2.“不通過中間人直接找某人（skip over intermediaries）”,如 He went direct to the president.(他直接去找董事長)。
    

    Directly除了表達直接的意思外，可用來表示：
    

    1.“一會兒”，“馬上”，“不久”：
    

    Directly after, they resumed the journey. （之后不久他們又繼續趕路。）
    

    2.有時還用作連詞，表示“一……就”。如：
    

    Directly I walked in the door I smelt smoke. 我一進門就聞到煙味。
    

    在下面句子里，direct和directly都可以用，但在意思上存在一定的區別：
    

    1. He flew direct to Paris. （用direct表示直飛巴黎，non-stop,沒有中轉;如果使用directly，則有可能指immediately，他立刻飛往了巴黎。）
    

    2. I'll talk to him direct.(用'direct'表示面對面地直接和他談，沒有通過中間人，direct意即 'face-to-face and/or without intermediaries'.如果使用 'directly',意思就沒有這么清晰，它即可以理解為'very soon',也有可能表達與direct相同的意思。)
    

    在形容詞或其他副詞前，通常使用directly,如：The lighthouse was directly opposite the island.（燈塔正對著小島）。
    

    在絕大多數情況下，人們使用directly：
    

    1. The needle on the compass is pointing directly north. （指南針上的指針正直接對著北方。）
    

    2. You will damage your eyes if you look directly at the sun.（直接看著太陽會傷害你的眼睛。）
    

    3. The recession led directly to a major depression. (經濟衰退直接導致了大瀟條。)
    

    4. They had to leave directly. (他們不得不馬上離開。)
